Description
A creamy, caramel-sweet iced latte made with dark brown sugar and oat milk that tastes like a high-end cafe drink but is easy to make at home in just 10 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups strong brewed coffee or espresso (4 shots)
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- 1 cup oat milk (barista-style recommended)
- 1.5 cups ice cubes
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Brew strong coffee or espresso and let it cool slightly to warm (not scalding).
- Take about 1/2 cup of the hot coffee and whisk in the brown sugar until completely dissolved to create a syrup.
- Fill a tall glass to the brim with ice cubes.
- Pour the sweetened coffee mixture over the ice.
- Pour the oat milk over the coffee to create layers.
- Add vanilla extract if using, stir gently to combine, and top with whipped cream or cinnamon if desired.
Notes
For best results, use dark brown sugar for deep molasses flavor. If using cold brew, you may need slightly more sugar as it is less acidic. To save time, make a batch of brown sugar syrup ahead of time (1 cup sugar to 1 cup hot water) and store in the fridge for up to two weeks. Ensure oat milk is fresh to prevent curdling.
