Description
A quick, creamy, and healthy breakfast smoothie made with frozen strawberries, bananas, Greek yogurt, and spinach. It provides sustained energy and tastes like a dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups frozen strawberries
- 1 large frozen banana
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- ½ cup milk of choice (e.g., almond, oat, or soy)
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
- 1 handful fresh spinach (about 30g)
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds or flaxseed (optional)
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice
- Ice cubes (optional, if fruit isn’t frozen solid)
Instructions
- Ensure strawberries and bananas are frozen. If using whole frozen bananas, let them sit for 5-10 minutes to soften slightly or break into chunks before freezing.
- Pour milk into the blender first to help the blades spin freely.
- Add yogurt, spinach, chia seeds, and honey to the blender.
- Add frozen strawberries and bananas on top.
- Secure the lid and start blending on low speed, gradually increasing to high.
- Blend for 30-60 seconds until completely smooth with no chunks.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or consistency by adding more honey, milk, or ice as needed.
- Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
Notes
For best texture, use frozen fruit rather than fresh. If your blender is weaker, blend liquid and yogurt first, then add frozen fruit. Smoothies are best served immediately but can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours. For meal prep, create smoothie packs with frozen fruit and seeds in zip-top bags.
