Description
A cozy, spicy, and sweet autumn drink made with black tea, chai spices, maple syrup, and pumpkin spice. This easy 10-minute latte is customizable, dairy-free friendly, and tastes like a hug in a mug.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 black tea bags (Assam or Ceylon)
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon chai spice blend
- 2 tablespoons real maple syrup
- 1 cup milk (oat, almond, coconut, or dairy)
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin spice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Bring water to a boil in a saucepan, then remove from heat. Add tea bags and chai spice blend; steep for 3-5 minutes. Remove tea bags.
- Reduce heat to low and add milk to the spiced tea. Warm gently until around 160°F (70°C), ensuring it does not boil.
- Stir in maple syrup, pumpkin spice, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the maple syrup is fully dissolved.
- Froth the milk using a handheld frother, whisk vigorously, or use a French press to create foam.
- Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
Do not boil the milk as it can scald and ruin the texture. Use real maple syrup, not pancake syrup. For a stronger flavor, toast whole spices in a dry pan before brewing. Leftover spiced tea can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
