Description
A simple, 5-ingredient slow cooker dinner featuring juicy chicken thighs in a glossy, sweet, and savory honey garlic glaze. Perfect for busy weeknights with minimal prep time.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 lbs (680g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/2 cup (170g) honey
- 1/3 cup (80ml) soy sauce
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp water
Instructions
- Rinse chicken thighs and pat dry. Place them in the slow cooker in a single layer.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
- Pour the sauce over the chicken, ensuring each piece is coated.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours (or HIGH for 3 hours if short on time).
- About 30 minutes before serving, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry.
- Stir the slurry into the slow cooker, cover, and cook on HIGH for the last 30 minutes until the sauce thickens into a glaze.
- Serve hot, spooning extra sauce over the top. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
Chicken thighs are preferred over breasts to prevent dryness. Use fresh garlic and ginger for best flavor. The cornstarch slurry is essential for thickening the sauce. Can be made in an Instant Pot using sauté and pressure cook functions. Leftovers keep well in the fridge for 4 days or freeze for 3 months.
